The scope of the Bachelor of Physiotherapy program is broad, covering various aspects of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and movement science. Students will learn about the musculoskeletal, neurological, respiratory, and cardiovascular systems and how they relate to physical function and dysfunction.

The program also covers topics such as exercise therapy, manual therapy, electrotherapy, and rehabilitation. Students will learn how to develop treatment plans for patients with different conditions and how to use various techniques to improve their physical function and mobility. A Bachelor of Physiotherapy program is designed to equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills to become a physiotherapist. Physiotherapy is a healthcare profession that involves the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of physical disabilities, pain, and movement disorders.

  • Kerala State Board - Girls - Physics, Chemistry & Biology - 60%
  • Other State Boards / CBSE / ICSE - Physics, Chemistry & Biology - 55% for Boys & Girls

Duration

4 years + 6 months

The duration of the programme shall extend over 8 semesters (four academic years with 6 months internship) each semester comprising minimum of 15 weeks or more with the minimum of 90 actual working days of instruction in each semester. The successful completion of the Undergraduate program, along with internship as applicable will lead to Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy (BPT)

Program (PO & PSO)

  • PO1:Understands the structure, function, and dysfunction of various body organs and movement
  • PO2:Competent to examine, evaluate, diagnose, plan, execute and document physiotherapy treatment independently or along with the multidisciplinary team in movement impairments and functional limitations as per red and yellow flags in any healthcare delivery setting
  • PO3: Operate, maintain and document physiotherapy equipment used in treatment of patient, physiotherapy treatment planning and procedures independently.
  • PO4:Be able to appreciate adverse effects associated with physical therapy modalities and procedures, their safety procedures and management strategies
  • PO 5: Be able to appreciate the socio-psychological, cultural, economic and environmental factors affecting health and promote health, wellness and fitness in community.
  • PO 6: Competent and reflective physiotherapy practitioner who can function safely and effectively while adhering to legal, ethical and professional standards of practice in a multitude of physiotherapy settings for patients and clients across the lifespan and along the continuum of care from wellness and prevention to rehabilitation of dysfunction.
  • PO 7:Utilize critical inquiry and evidence-based practice to make clinical decisions essential for autonomous practice.
  • PO 8:Function as an active member of professional and community organizations; service-oriented advocate dedicated to the promotion and improvement of community health.
  • PO 9:Acquire effective communication and leadership skills to work as member of multidisciplinary team and provide patient education about various physiotherapeutic interventions to the patient and care givers
